Job Title: Design Manager


The role is based at the Company’s head office in Toomebridge and will involve travel. The successful Applicant will be responsible for successfully managing the delivery of all aspects of design and will become part of a dynamic, award winning company which places particular emphasis on Investment in People.


He/ She will have the opportunity to develop their previous design and technical management experience whilst adding value to a highly motivated and results driven team. 



Main Duties/Activities:


  • Responsible for all design and technical functions within the company

  • Manage the development, training and expansion of the current design team

  • Regular reporting to directors

  • Maintaining thorough documentation of all processes -

    • Drawing / Technical Submissions

    • RFI's

    • Bills of Materials / Procurement Schedules

    • Structural Calculations

    • Production / Installation Pack

  • Working with clients to ensure their requirements are fulfilled and expectations are met

  • Keeping up to date with changing legislation and codes of practice to ensure compliance

  • Requires a thorough understanding of technical, regulatory and commercial issues as well as pure design consideration

  • Providing design and technical support to other departments

    • Sales & Estimating

    • Contracts

    • Procurement

    • Commercial

  • Developing land and marine based glazing systems and solutions, supporting other companies within the group

  • Managing the supply chain that would allow growth and providing Topglass with a strong market share

  • Implementing and managing quality systems and processes

  • To undertake travel as part of the role

  • Other duties as directed which fall within the reasonable remit of the job description

Essential Criteria:


  • An in-depth knowledge of the construction industry

  • 3rd level education, ideally construction related

  • Computer literate in AutoCAD / 3D modelling / Logikal / Schucal

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role in a facade / glazing environment

  • Excellent communication, negotiating and influencing skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
